Josiah’s photographs are vulnerable and collaborative which helps bridge the divide between communities in order to establish new cultures, and grounding his images in the human experience and condition. These photographs are often a part of long term projects, which he has found helps the viewer be able to connect to the subject matter as much as he does. Embedding himself in these communities and topics he wants to discuss with his photographs, by showing the viewer both the joy and hardship of these topics. He is not just an observer but a participant. The camera is not a right of passage, but a catalyst of curiosity and empathy that helps bring dignity to the subjects he photographs and compassion to the viewer.
Currently he is pursuing his Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
